Every year, UCLA Law School’s Prison Law & Policy Program compiles and shares a summer job-search guide for law students. Many of the listed organizations also sponsor new-lawyer fellowships or hire new lawyers. With the generous permission of the UCLA program, the guide is here.


Every two years, prisoners’ rights lawyers convene a conference to share expertise.   (The 2020 conference was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but see the Webinars page for information on the substitute virtual panels.) In 2016, the kick-off event was a panel on Starting Out as a Prisoners’ Rights Lawyer. Youtube video below.
