Lived Experiences

The Experience of Incarceration:

This Lived Experiences collation highlights sources by individuals who have experienced incarceration, offering personal insight into both daily life and long-term impact of their imprisonment. The collection includes many kinds of writing: prison journalism, poetry, court declarations, memoirs. It also presents sources whose authors, while not themselves incarcerated, lean heavily on interviews or other access to lived experience. And there’s a small collection of evocative artwork, as well.

We’ve divided the collection into five sections, each corresponding to a casebook Part (plus one section for “additional topics”). Within the sections, the entries are grouped into topics.
